The host promise

What it means
to host well.

A ShamStay host welcomes guests into a home they are legally allowed to offer, keeps it safe and accurately described, communicates responsibly, and maintains accurate rates and availability.

Before you begin

Prepare your ID, proof of address or ownership, written permission where needed, property photos and any locally required approvals.

How it works

Five steps to host.

You can prepare a private draft while your Host application is reviewed. Public booking begins only after identity, Host, property, payment and operational controls are approved.

  1. 01

    Create your host account

Add your contact details and hosting city, then verify your email, phone number and identity.

  2. 02

    Verify your identity

Complete the host identity review before any property can be submitted or published.

  3. 03

    Tell us about the home

Create an accurate listing with its address, type, capacity, amenities, availability, price and house rules.

  4. 04

    Provide evidence

Upload proof that you may host the property, current photos, safety information and any permits required locally.

  5. 05

Property eligibility

What you can host.

The property must provide genuine overnight accommodation, remain stationary during the stay, and be offered by its owner or an authorized operator.

Entire homes & apartments

A self-contained home with a sleeping area, bathroom and private guest access.

Private rooms

A lockable private bedroom, with every shared space and all other occupants clearly disclosed.

Heritage homes

Courtyard houses and culturally significant stays that are lawful, structurally sound and guest-ready.

Guesthouses & boutique stays

Professionally managed guesthouses, B&Bs or small hotels operated by an authorized business.

Application checklist

What you will need.

Keep these items ready. Depending on the property, ShamStay may request additional evidence or an inspection before publication.

01

About you

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • Verified email and mobile number
  • Legal name and date of birth
  • A verified payout account for requesting earnings
02

Right to host

  • Ownership document, valid lease or management agreement
  • Written owner permission if you are not the owner

Safety & responsibility

A beautiful stay
must be a safe one.

Hosts are responsible for a secure, clean and habitable property. Known hazards must be corrected or clearly disclosed, occupancy must be safe, and entry instructions should protect every guest.

  • Test alarms and essential utilities regularly
  • Secure keys, access codes, pools and height hazards
  • Clean thoroughly between every stay
  • Keep an emergency contact and response plan

The safety checklist reflects published home-host expectations for secure access, hazard disclosure, detectors, cleanliness and legal occupancy limits.56

Clear host economics

You earn from completed stays.

12% current default commissionSnapshotted on every new booking

Online payments are collected by ShamStay; cash-at-property payments are collected directly by the Host and create commission owed to ShamStay. There is no Host subscription: ShamStay snapshots the commission rate on each booking and records the resulting net earnings or cash commission balance.

01

Eligible host charges

Accommodation, cleaning and other mandatory host fees after discounts form the commission base.

02

Explicit exclusions

Taxes, guest service fees and refundable deposits are not included in host commission.

03

Choose bank, then request

When earnings become eligible, the host selects a verified bank account. ShamStay sends the net amount and marks the payout transferred.

Actual booking totals can also include separately disclosed taxes, guest fees or deposits. The host chooses a verified bank account for each payout request; ShamStay then transfers the net amount.

Local permission comes first

Hosting rules can change by location and property.

Before accepting guests, confirm the current requirements with the relevant Syrian tourism, municipal, building and tax authorities. A ShamStay review does not replace a permit, licence, insurance policy or professional legal advice.

Owners, leases, building associations and local authorities may restrict short stays; hosts remain responsible for obtaining permission and suitable insurance.7

Visit the help centre
Do I need to pay to list?+

No membership or listing plan is required. ShamStay applies the commission rate stored with each confirmed booking; the current default is 12% of eligible host charges.

Can I list a home that I rent?+

Only if your lease allows short stays, the owner has given written permission, and every applicable local or building rule is satisfied. ShamStay may ask for both the lease and owner authorization.

Can I register more than one property?+

Yes. Each home needs its own accurate listing, address evidence and review. Multiple independently booked guest units at one address should be modeled separately so inventory remains accurate.

How is ShamStay commission calculated?+

The booking snapshot applies the configured rate to accommodation and mandatory host fees after discounts. Taxes, guest service fees and refundable deposits are excluded. Changes apply only to future bookings.

When do earnings become payable?+

For online payments, eligible net earnings can be requested to a verified bank account after the stay reaches its payout release point. For cash-at-property bookings, the Host already holds the booking money and instead settles the recorded ShamStay commission balance.

ShamStay reviews the host and home. A listing only goes live after every required check is complete.
