Our safeguards

How we protect guests and Hosts

Verified Hosts

A verified Host has passed ShamStay's recorded identity check and Host-application review.

Reviewed properties

Each property has a separate publication review. Publication requires host approval, a saved location and host-supplied photos. Hosts remain responsible for having permission to offer the accommodation.

Property locations before booking

Published property pages show the Host-supplied address and map pin so guests can review and share the location before booking. Access codes and check-in instructions remain in the confirmed trip.

Private account data

Bookings, messages, identity evidence and financial records are private to the accounts involved, and access is checked by the backend.

Recorded bookings and payments

Booking status, itemised SYP totals and payment status are recorded, and documents are issued from the confirmed amounts.

Reporting and support

Report a message from inside a conversation, or open a support case for listing, safety or payment concerns so it can be followed up.

Understanding the labels

What a verification label means

Host verification records the ShamStay identity and host-application review. Property review is a separate publication check covering the listing and submitted evidence. Host-supplied photos, amenities and location details should still be read carefully.

These checks are not a safety certification, an inspection guarantee, an insurance policy or proof that every amenity suits your needs. Ask the host about essential accessibility, sleeping arrangements and arrival requirements before booking.

Guest ratings come from eligible completed bookings and are separate from verification. Read how reviews work. A new listing may have no guest reviews.

Before you commit

Read the terms and know how to get help

Review the itemised checkout total, cancellation policy and booking terms. Hosts remain responsible for accurate listings, permission to host and the accommodation they operate; see the host requirements.

Contact ShamStay if a listing, payment or message needs attention. The Privacy Policy explains data handling and how to make a privacy request without signing in.

Travel smart

Tips for guests

  • Read the full listing, including house rules, shared spaces and the cancellation policy, before you request.
  • Keep booking conversations in ShamStay messages so there is a clear record.
  • Treat a booking as confirmed only when its status in My bookings says confirmed.
  • Check current travel advice for your nationality before you travel.
