How guest reviews work

Guest reviews describe a particular stay. Read the review text and dates alongside the listing details before deciding whether a property meets your needs.

Who can review

A completed booking is required

A property review can be submitted only by the guest account that made the ShamStay booking, after the booking is marked completed and its checkout date is today or earlier. A booking can receive one guest property review. Cancelled bookings and unfinished stays are not eligible.

The guest chooses a rating from 1 to 5 and writes a comment. The host may leave a separate review of the guest; that review is not included in the property’s rating.

When reviews appear

Reviews are revealed after both sides submit, or after the waiting period

A guest review becomes public when the host has also submitted a review for that booking, or 14 days after the guest submitted it. A recently submitted review may therefore not be visible yet.

Property pages show the guest’s first name, star rating, written review, stay month, review submission date and publication date when available. Public reviews are ordered by submission date, newest first. A host response, when supplied, is labelled separately.

Reading the score

Ratings come from public guest reviews

The property score is the arithmetic average of its public guest review ratings, on a scale of 1 to 5. The review count is shown with the score. A property with no public reviews has no guest rating.

A completed booking verifies the connection between the reviewing account and the stay; it does not independently verify every statement in a review. Guest opinions and a host verification label are different trust signals.

Corrections and concerns

Edit your review or report a concern

The author can edit a review once. The original submission date remains its review date. The host can add one response to a guest’s property review.

Signed-in users can use Report on a review to explain a concern. Reporting records a concern for review; it does not automatically remove the review or change its rating. You can also contact ShamStay.
